Our lunch at Lydia's last week was absolutely delicious. Fried catfish was cooked to order, seasoned to perfection, super fresh. On the side, the mac and cheese was creamy and the cornbread dressing moist. Lydia came out of the kitchen to greet us, and we were happy to tell her how much we appreciated her skill. Let's support this great local restaurant in Sugar Land!

We loved our meals. The catfish is fried perfectly and is better than any place around Sugar Land. The smothered pork chop was tender and moist. Our sides were pinto beans, buttered white rice, cabbage, and mac and cheese. They were all fantastic. This was our first time to have a meal from Lydia's, but it definitely won't be the last.

Lydia’s Culinary & Catering is a true gem in Sugar Land! From the warm, family-like atmosphere to the incredible soul food, this place is a must-visit. The buffet was outstanding, and their Gold Holiday Package wowed all our guests—it’s a meal we’ll never forget. If you’re looking for exceptional soul food and a welcoming vibe, Lydia’s is the spot!

The Mac n Cheese is a must get as far as sides go. The salmon was really good with a nice crust on the outside and still very juicy on the inside. Multiple visits will be necessary as the menu varies by day.

My review is based on just TRYING to give this place our business. First time, they were closed even though their website said they were open. The next attempt was on a Tuesday. I called first. No answer. I got a call back saying they changed the days of closing. The person said they would be open Wednesday. So Wednesday we tried dinner based on the call and their "updated" website said they would be open at 5pm. Nope, they were closed again. So Lydia, we're done trying and will not try again. Anyone attempting to try Lydia's then I highly suggest you call the day AND time you plan on going. Too much trouble for us.
