Kokoro – Bravery Chef Hall Kokoro sits inside Bravery Hall alongside several other concepts, and while the food absolutely delivers, the setting is something to note. This is not the spot if you’re expecting a traditional, upscale sushi-restaurant ambiance there are no private tables. It’s more of a bar-style sushi counter with limited seating, and the prices lean on the higher end for the portion. I ordered the Chef Nigiri 6, and every piece had its own personality… also had Kinoko– Surprisingly delicious. You can hardly tell it’s a mushroom because the texture is so meaty and the flavor is rich. Butterfish (Managatsu) Silky smooth with a subtle hint of wasabi that balances the bite perfectly. Kanpachi Sambi Crudo Bright, clean, and refreshing with a vinegary, ponzu-like sauce that ties everything together. A note for anyone with allergies: If you’re allergic to red snapper or similar fish, be aware there may be cross-contamination. An allergic reaction occurred during the visit even after informing the sushi chef, so proceed with caution if you have strict dietary restrictions or fish allergies. Overall, Kokoro is a great option if you want high-quality nigiri in a casual food hall setting, just make sure the environment and allergy considerations match what you’re looking for.

The Legend

Korkoro is located within a Chef’s hall. We went in looking for good sushi, and we definitely found it there! We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chef’s professionally carry out their craft. The fish source is listed on the wall, so you know exactly what you are getting. The service was friendly and prompt. The yakitori was done to perfection, the sushi was yummy/fresh and the salad was spot on. We ordered a few rolls, sashimi, chicken wing yakitori, shiitake mushroom yakitori, shishito peppers and cucumber salad. The cool thing is that you can order from other locations within the chef hall and eat together, regardless of your choice. The vibe was modern, and chill. We got craft beers from the bar. I’d recommend this location for anyone looking for good sushi. We would return when back in Houston.

Amazing restaurant! Everything is super fresh and flavorful, from sushi to hand rolls. Service is excellent — friendly, attentive, and fast. Great atmosphere and fair prices for the quality you get. Excellent value for money — definitely one of the best Japanese spots in Houston!

delicious sushi. I tried the sake sashimi, kanpachi sashimi, loop de med sashimi, and the standout for me was the buttery chutoro sashimi — absolutely melt-in-your-mouth. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to for top-quality sashimi!
