My family and I checked out Granny Dee’s Kitchen, a cool black-owned spot we wanted to support. The elderly man who greeted us was so friendly, and we didn't mind waiting for him to take our orders. We ended up spending over $100 for four of us, which wasn't bad. I liked how they have different stuff on different days, so we went for Friday's menu. The meats were cooked well and tasted great, but the black-eyed peas needed more seasoning and cooking time. I loved the collard greens, but Mom found them too bitter. The mac & cheese was awesome, and the pound cake was moist and yummy, especially when heated up. But the sweet tea wasn't our thing—it tasted kind of fake. Overall, Granny Dee’s Kitchen was a nice spot for lunch. Everyone's got their own taste, so you gotta try it yourself. We'd totally go back to try more stuff.

This place is legit the best soul food in the I've had in the Spring area. I recently had the smothered chicken plate with rice and gravy and 2 sides with greens and yams. I also had their kool aid which was just right and a large slice of homemade pound cake which reminded me of home. Next, visit I'll get pictures lol.

I grew up in the church. I am a PK… Baby I stopped by Granny Dee’s after work today because I did not feel like cooking. I was a little hesitant because of the reviews. I said to my husband let’s try it anyway. We got the fish special and a slice of old fashion pound cake! All I can say is God was glorified!!! If I had ten thousand tongues I could not thank Granny Dee enough!!! The food was hot, fresh, and very good. Whew chile my feet almost got happy! I can’t speak on the previous bad reviews however it was well with my soul…. If you can trust God you can trust Granny Dee! God bless you granny! May everything you touch prosper..I know I am having fun in this review but I am oh so serious. I know good food when I taste it I come from a line of cooks. Its a straight up 5 out 5 for me!!!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

1st time here. I love supporting small businesses. However when it comes to Soul Food, I look for taste/flavor, texture and portions. I must say I was disappointed. The rice was gooey/soggy/mushy you could definitely tell it was OVERCOOKED or reheated with water and/or off brand rice. The cornbread flavor was decent but it tasted like 2 day old cornbread. The collard greens were tasty but it reminded me of Glory Greens in a can. The mac-n-cheese taste like box mac-n-cheese with melted cheese. The wings had little to no flavor, and were very dry. The gravy was ok. The BEST thing I enjoyed was the Kool-aid, which is why I gave 2 stars vs 1 star. I hope the dessert taste good, I haven't tried it yet. And the customer service was Awesome.

My son and I decided to try Granny Dees in Spring Texas after reading great reviews online and in a local newspaper. We were not disappointed, the food reminded me of the good ole home cooking from both of my grandmothers. And, the portion sizes are generous and delicious! Highly recommend and a definite repeat for our family.
