Levi Goode, like his late father, has an excellent eye for design and detail and for me, as a native Houstonian, it is always such a pleasure to visit one of the Goode restaurants to see the themed decoration of the interior. Been coming to these restaurants since their incarnation, with that original barbecue location on Kirby Drive. How many years ago? Over fifty possibly? The chips and salsa were good. Enjoyed with my drink of choice, the uber carbonated Topo Chico in the bottle. Coca-Cola didn’t mess with the carbonation when they bought the company. At the Yale location, a wall with the decorative wooden plates of Michoacán. I own just one. I count 18 on one wall. But one day, when we move into assisted living, I am going to contact Levi to see if he wants to buy our extensive collection of Mexican folk art. I especially think he will love taking ownership of my collection of Huichol masks. (I hope). A person on Houston Heights foodies recommended the enchiladas saying that they were to die for and so, today, for lunch that is what I chose to have. Evaluation? The rice was acceptable, the charro beans were good, the plate was hot, and the enchiladas were classically Tex-Mex and fresh tasting. I had been worried that everything would have a creosote mesquite smokiness, but it didn’t. The beans had a hint of that creosote smell and taste, but not a deal breaker. But I had a taste and left the rest. Whereas an experience at their West Gray location was not memorable, I was pleased with my lunch here, today.

We visited Goode Co. Cantina in the Heights with a large group, and it was such a great experience! The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully done. The standout for me was the cucumber salad—crisp, refreshing, and full of flavor. Despite our group size, the service was impressively fast and friendly, keeping everything running smoothly. Parking was a bit of a challenge, so we ended up finding a spot on the street, but it was absolutely worth the short walk. A fantastic spot for delicious food and a lively atmosphere!

Wow! This is a must visit! We had one of the best servers we have had. She was genuinely nice, polite, and took a great interest in us. The food was amazing! My wife had taquitos and she could not stop raving about them. I had chicken enchiladas that were tasty! Chips and salsa were fresh. The traditional margarita was perfectly blended. And we wrapped up with pecan pie - dont leave without ordering this. This place was world class. I would visit them daily if I lived there. When I get back to Houston, this will be one of our first stops.

Very nice atmosphere. It was great weather to sit out on the patio. Though seating was close, patrons could still have intimate conversations without being disturbed by others. Our server checked on us often and was very professional and attentive. The food arrived promptly and it was hot and fresh. Nice flavors! Parking was tight! I ended up parking in the overflow parking lot and the saving grace was that we did not have to pay for parking.

Solid Tex Mex & margs. We walked in to a pretty packed restaurant (even all of the seats at the bar were taken). We lucked up and there was a no show. Restaurant is intimate so I would highly recommend a reservation especially on the weekend. Highlights for us included the guacamole & chicken enchiladas.
