I went to Fat Cat Creamery in the Stomping Grounds of Houston, which is a great little development and currently the only ice cream spot in that area. Fat Cat Creamery is a woman-owned, Houston-based ice cream company that started in 2011 after the founders couldn’t find good craft ice cream in the city. They make small-batch ice cream completely from scratch using Texas whole milk, heavy cream, egg yolks, and locally sourced ingredients, and they also emphasize environmentally friendly, compostable packaging. The ice cream itself is clearly high quality, with unique and well-executed flavors. That said, I am very particular about ice cream texture and prefer a harder, more frozen style that you can really bite into. Fat Cat’s ice cream is very soft and melty, which just isn’t my personal preference. It’s not bad ice cream by any means, just not the style I personally enjoy. - 3.5/5 Overall, Fat Cat Creamery is doing something right and clearly has a strong following, especially if you like softer, creamier ice cream. I appreciate their presence in Stomping Grounds and the quality of ingredients, but the texture keeps this from being a favorite for me.

**Update: Third time’s a charm! I returned on a busy Friday and ordered three scoops of the Milk and Cookies flavor —it was amazing! The lady working that evening provided excellent customer service and made a beautiful cone, such a contrast to my last visit. I absolutely love the flavors here and omg 🤤 the fudge brownies literally melt in your mouth! ___________________________________________ This was my second visit. The first time, the ice cream was great, but the staff took over two minutes to acknowledge us because they were caught up in a personal conversation. Went to get ice cream yesterday evening, and unfortunately, the customer service was extremely disappointing. Upon entering, neither the young male nor female staff greeted us, they looked irritated that we were even there. I ordered a cone with three scoops. The male staff member attempted to hand it to me with the third scoop barely hanging on. My friend and I pointed out that it was about to fall off and as he tried to adjust it the cone continued to split and cracked significantly. Instead of simply remaking it, he said he’d just put it in a cup. When I politely asked for a new cone, he rolled his eyes and huffed and puffed like the request was a burden. To top it off, he muttered under his breath to his female coworker (who also hadn’t greeted us) in a way that was clearly unprofessional and disrespectful. It’s unfortunate —the ice cream is genuinely great, but the poor attitude and lack of basic customer service from the staff ruin the experience. There really needs to be a change in staffing or training. Friendly, attentive service makes all the difference.

Stopped by tonight for a quick taste test ended up walking out with their new flavor ! Loved it ! Sweet lady and gentleman working the register/taking my order really made the experience great ! Helped me decide on what to get. Great establishment.

7/29/2025 at between 630p-7p we visited Fat Cat Creamery!! We were greeted with friendly staff. So many delicious flavors to choose from. My sons tried the Coca-Cola Ice Cream floats and enjoyed them!! I had the Whiskey Butter Pecan (2 scoops) and thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband had a scoop of Texas Hummingbird and scoop of Graham Central Station on a waffle cone and was a fan of the Graham Central Station but not the Texas Hummingbird but was good overall. We would definitely visit them again if we’re in the area again.

The options are very good and it’s a cute looking icecream place but my experience with the staff was a bit weird. Maybe it was the time of the day I went because it almost close to store closing time and staff probably was just done for the day so I felt their ambiance wasn’t very pleasant. Nevertheless, apart from that minor hiccup it’s a good icecream spot. Plenty of free parking at the location.
