While visiting friends in the area, they wanted me to try local Tex-Mex, so we stopped by Candente on a Friday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. The restaurant was moderately busy and we were seated right away. Our server quickly brought warm complimentary chips and dips. We ordered the guacamole (which was outstanding — one of the best I’ve had) along with smoked chicken flautas, portobello and peppers fajitas, and the #1 Botanás sampler (ground beef nachos, chicken flauta, smoked chicken quesadilla, and guacamole salad). Everything was delicious and full of flavor. My two suggestions would more crisp on the quesadillas, they were a little soggy and coordination of shift change since we had to flag down our new server. We also ordered a flan to go and had it later. It was a generous portion, more than enough to share! I’m so glad my local friends introduced me to this spot — great Tex-Mex! Highly recommend.

I really like this place, and happened to go on a Saturday at brunch, and let me tell you, the pancakes were outstanding and the sausage and cheese link was a must grab. The pastor street tacos were really rich, and heavy. Loved the chips and salsa, would definitely go back, but with more people, because the portions are monstrous.

Excellent service and atmosphere. Good for individuals and groups. Three of us had lunch here, and the prices were very reasonable. The lunch menu featured a lot of standard favorites. Spice level was good as well. Very attentive staff and they seem to understand customer's needs before they ask. Will return for Happy Hour.

Finally at Candente Tex Mex. Montrose… I just got something the waitress recommended. This place is quite unique, I will give it that. lol I had to park WAY down the street. That sidewalk was murder!! 😅 I don’t see that well these days and you have to be careful!!! Guacamole salad and Red Sangria to start. Crowded for lunch on Saturday.

Went to Candente with some friends. I like that it's kind of hidden in a neighborhood. The atmosphere was nice. They have an outdoor covered patio area. I had a blueberry margarita, it was ok. The salsa was good. My favorite was the green salsa. They had plenty of menu items some of which are made for you to share. I forgot which number we ordered but there was bacon wrapped shrimp, grilled shrimp, sausage, chicken and a couple of other meats. They only give you three plates of condiments so I had to order the fourth one. There was plenty of food for us to share and take a little bit home. I appreciated that the waiter was able to split the check between the four of us. I’d like to go back and try the smoked brisket enchiladas.
