Day & Night Café – Honest Review Let’s start with the pros, because there are definitely some highlights. The drinks were great — you can absolutely taste the alcohol, which is always a plus. The music and vibe were calm, relaxed, and set the perfect tone for the experience. Now to the food. I ordered the lamb chops with French toast, and this was my first time trying lamb chops. I give it a solid 9.5/10. The meat was extremely tender and seasoned all the way through. It was done very well, and it’s something I would definitely order again. However, the mac & cheese was a big letdown. For $9, the portion was very small and it was missing a major ingredient. I was very disappointed with this side. My fiancé ordered the chicken and waffles. This should be an easy dish, but unfortunately, they missed the mark. The chicken itself wasn’t seasoned — only the batter was — which made it mediocre at best. On the positive side, he did enjoy the waffles. Now for the cons. One major downside is the $20 parking fee — in their own parking lot. If they didn’t have on-site parking, it would be more understandable, but paying just to park and eat here feels excessive. The restaurant is also very small and not ideal for a family setting. The tables are extremely close together, and the space almost feels like you’re dining in a garage. As for customer service, our waitress , Alicia J, really missed the mark. While she made good menu recommendations, she never checked back once our food arrived to see if we were enjoying it. There was little to no interaction, and it felt like she was getting paid regardless of the experience, rather than providing genuine service.

Man I’m already thinking about coming back!! First, the service was AMAZING!! Taya was extraordinary!! She said all the food on the menu was good and she did NOT lie!! The oxtails were the star of the show, followed by the lamb chops!! Such good flavor! The Mac and cheese were a bit drier than i like but was still yummy!! If i had one suggestion it would be to get low table seating. High tables aren’t always the vibe for me but that’s a preference lol. We will definitely be back, high tables and all lol!

Visited Day & Night Cafe in Third Ward and had a great experience! Taya was our server and she did an amazing job, very attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of the entire time. The food was really good, and the drinks were definitely on point. Everything came out fresh and flavorful. Great vibes, great service, will definitely be back!

Update: Returned for a visit 1/17/26. Fiid was again great portion sizes were great. Was introduced to the cornbread waffles. Amazing concept, I never thought of. Ordered Salmon, Macaroni, and Yams. Also had the Chicken Alfredo, lastly had the Lamb Chops and Waffles. Visited twice. During the 1st visit, early morning, security was helpful with explaining everything. My party and I sat inside. There was a wait bedore the server stopped by. We received water and place our food orders. Alcohol sales ended at 2 am. We waited for nearly an hour. Got the attention of server before deciding to go home. For the 2nd visit, early afternoon, we got seated quickly. We opted for outdoor seating. The wait for food was again lengthy. Food portions were small given the expensive prices. Food was flavorable and very delicous. Ordered Lamb and Shrimp Pasta, Lamb Chops with Green and Macaroni. Lobster Bites with French Toast and a side of eggs and grits. Had a Bananna and a Hurricane frozen cocktail. Blended well and Lit.

So I was in town for my bday. Had seen this place on IG and wanted to try it and because it said black owned. My daughter and I were together and I looked at reviews and say bad reviews but I said maybe I'll have a better experience. First it took 20 mins before anyone came to acknowledge us to say I'll be right with you. Then when she returned 10-15 mins later she then gave us menus. She took so long to do all of that we decided to put our drink and food in because we figured we'd be waiting another 15-20 minutes again to place it. We get our food and then had to wait another 6 minutes before getting our waiter attention because she didnt bring us silverware. I'm not even kidding when I say the times in between our encounter and all the waiting in the beginning and even before closing out took so long we had spent 3 hrs in this place. I'm so serious. We arrived around 2:30p and we left at 5:46p. It even took 15 mins to get the card back then they stated they couldn't print a receipt with details. I was so over this place. Then we realized it says on the menu that they are CASHLESS, BUT ON THE RECEIPT, THEY CHARGE A PERCENTAGE TO USE A CARD AS IF YOU HAVE A CHOICE. Smh. I don't see this place being very productive in the future. However, the food was good. Our waitress was Alicia. She was doing too much and not enough at the same time. I will never go back there again.
