1929 Po-Boy Kitchen

I’m so happy to give my first five star review of 2026 to 1929 Po-Boy Kitchen! It was so good! I’m from Louisiana and it’s so hard to find an authentic po-boy that reminds me of home so this place brought me back in a good way! A few of our friends recommended this spot to us and we ordered a large shrimp po-boy that we split and ordered the boudin egg rolls. When I saw the food, I knew I was in for a treat! Before I get to the food, the customer service was amazing! We were walked through the menu and received so many recommendations of what to try which was a plus! Now the food was seasoned to perfection!! We were extremely impressed! We’ve been raving about this place since last week! Will definitely return to try some different menu items.

Today was a heavy day for me and we stopped by 1929 Po-boy Kitchen for lunch and it was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend if you’re are ever in downtown Houston near Lyric Market. Not only is the food great but Monica Landry was so kind and charming. Her food and spirit helped turn our day around. We enjoyed shrimp and crawfish poboys, fries and alligator. I can’t wait to return for the gumbo and catfish! 🫶🏼

This is the best Cajun restaurant in Texas! I love the boudin balls, boudin egg rolls, catfish so fresh it's almost still swimming. Shrimp are good as are the oysters. What can I say, I just love this family owned restaurant. And look at the beignets

This place is serving up some delicious dishes. It’s well seasoned and full of flavors. The Yakamein was really delicious. But the beignets could have been better, they did not have that Louisiana taste.

This place did not disappoint. Everything was phenomenal that I tried but the oxtail yakamein is literally out of this world. It’s located inside of lyric market and they have a parking garage where they will validate parking for up to 2 hours with a purchase from the market so don’t forget to get a receipt from wherever you buy from. The owner was so nice as well, I will definitely be back!
