Speedway Gas Station

Out of the 12 ICEE flavors, 5 of them were out of order, or just empty. 7/12 translates to 3/5 stars review in my book. Do better, SpeedyCafe!!

It was around 10:30/11AM on Tuesday. I was 4th in line with a total of 5 people or so. No worker was at the register, nor had any worker been at the register for about 2 minutes. The 2nd person in line asked the 3 workers in the back kitchen area, "Can we get someone up here?" One larger black worker, about 6'5" 300lbs or so, took major offense to that basic question, for whatever reason, and immediately began acting hostile and aggressive towards the person asking. Shouting loudly and saying, "Dude needs to watch his tone," and "He better watch himself speaking to people like that." It was absolutely ridiculous and uncalled-for as the workers were initially in the wrong by not assisting customers, thus creating an unnecessary line, but they also were chatting it up in the first place. The person in line simply brought it to their attention and the tall and bearded worker blew it out of proportion. It definitely seems like not only should he not be employed at this establishment, but if your first response is to act aggressively in retaliation to basic questions, you probably shouldn't be in society either.

The best place to fill up or grab breakfast or lunch, employees are always nice and friendly, and their kitchen side is easy to order food and made quick

My daughter and I stop here every morning to get breakfast on the way to school. Anitra and Karissa are amazing. They never stop moving and are always helpful. They make our morning. Thanks ladies.

Texas City does not have a lot of food options. And even less good options for vegetarians. I decided to try the Speedy Cafe today. I got a veggie sandwich. It was decent. Not great, not bad. No real complaint about the quality of the sand which itself. I’d say it’s a little over priced for what you get. I had gotten practically the same sandwich from subway on the other side of town for $2.50 and this one cost me nearly $5. It’s good for the convenience of not having to go far. I definitely believe I’ll be stopping in again in the future. Basically what I’m getting at is that if your hungry, in a pinch or strapped for time it’s not a bad option.
