We just had our new deck done and added a roof over it. Everything turned out great! Manager Jose' and Tyler and Martin worked so hard and did an amazing job. Building a deck and roof is very hard work and these guys were fantastic. After the deck was finished, JD came out to stain the deck and pillars. He did such a great job that we asked him to pressure wash, clean and stain our fence to match the deck. Everyone we dealt with was friendly, professional and hard-working. Houston Deck and Stain is a great company that does high quality work. We love our new deck!

Houston Deck and Shade did an outstanding job. Effective communication, skilled craftsmen, and attention to detail made this company a pleasure to do business with. From sales (Lauren), to project manager (Jim), to construction (Paul / Rusty / and the gang) - EVERYONE did a FANTASTIC job. Houston Deck and Shade recently completed our new Trex deck and we are very happy with the results. From start to finish we had a smooth and stress-free experience. Jose and his crew, Cesar and Martin, were professional and did an excellent job which exceeded our expectations. Jim answered all of our questions with patience and care. HDS originally built my deck and the job was well done. I had them back years later to refurbish the deck and the experience was less so. Too many planks of lumber were poor quality with extensive bark. So in some places the planks are very thin and will probably fail in less time. The workman dinged my downspout each time he brought back lumber into the work area so I have forever mementos of their time here. The quality was just all around less good this go around and didn’t jive with the premium price charged. I feel it was all a function of sending out one worker to do the job that needed two people. I needed to help out multiple times because it was really a two man job. If nothing else to safely carry the planks around the property, keep the job on schedule when there was a need to run out and get more supplies and troubleshooting when the siding was damaged. Two guys would also have been more likely to ensure the quality of the lumber that was put on the truck. Whether it was a poor board or good one, it still cost full price. These all seem like easy things the company can fix going forward to maintain the quality they had shown previously. Hopefully future reviews express they are back to the quality they had shown in the past.

Houston Deck and Shade are very professional and put out quality work. I contracted them to build a 5,500 SF boardwalk ellipse. The boardwalk had several unique features including ramps, built in benches, curved edging, and curved retaining walls. This deck had to be built to an exact spec and they did just that. Their crew worked extended hours though the Texas summer heat to insure all schedules were kept. They are as professional as it gets. If I could give 10 stars I would! If you are ever at the Johnson Space Center please stop by the B37 Interpertive Park to see their craftsmanship first hand.
