Avis Rent A Car

I don’t even want to leave one point of that star. Houston Hobby Avis is unprofessional and rude. I was given a 14 passenger cargo van instead of the SUV I reserved. The counter person, Kara, did not offer me an electric vehicle that was available nor did she ask me if I held an insurance policy, or if I needed to purchase insurance. I am a senior citizen that was given an extended cargo van and put in a very unsafe situation. I explained I was fearful to operate this vehicle. She was not the least bit concerned.

This is the worse location in the city. The lines are always long with a 1 hr wait time. There are only 2 people working the reservation counter. The cars are out dated with high mileage, and they never have the vehicle of choice. I waited in line for 45 mins plus another 15 minutes because they had to service the vehicle as they had to wait for return vehicles before releasing to newly rented customers. I would not recommend this location. The staff is helpful and can only work with the tools given.

When I rented from Avis I rented a luxury vehicle. See pic . When I arrived I was told we don’t even have that type of vehicle on our lot. But we can get you an electric car. I told the lady behind the counter that is not what I ordered. I didn’t want to spend my time recharging a car. Didn’t see any charging stations in or near Huston. So she gave me a Chevy blazer telling me that was a luxury vehicle for the same price. How is that a luxury vehicle? I asked her what the process was for returning. Lady behind the counter stated fill it up and return it. What she failed to tell me there may or may not be a shuttle and they close at 0200 . I tried to call the actual number on the website it kept sending me to a national Avis they told me that their phones were transferred. I will not be renting from Avis again.

It’s the rodeo. Be prepared. I’ve never waited so long for a car. I am supposed to get an upgrade with my presidents club status. Waited an hour and a half for a Honda accord. No one working in the preferred counter. Again, be prepared.

horrible do not book here waited in line an hour and 30 minutes had two clerks for over 20 people in line. The first lady got up and left halfway through the line. One person was working the line the whole time this place is a circus waited all that time to get a totally different vehicle. Complete waste of time I will never be booking again with Avis.
