I am very disappointed with my experience at the Tropical Smoothie Cafe location on Studemont in Houston, Texas. I visited specifically for National Flip Flop Day after seeing Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s social media posts stating that Birkenstock-style sandals qualified for the free smoothie promotion. However, when I arrived, I was told that my Birkenstock sandals did not qualify and was denied the free smoothie. Despite being disappointed, I decided to place an order anyway because I genuinely enjoy Tropical Smoothie Cafe and have always had positive experiences with the brand. What made the situation more frustrating was watching employees provide the free smoothie to several other customers who appeared to be wearing the same style of sandals that I was told were not eligible. As a Black woman, it was difficult not to feel singled out when I saw others receiving exceptions while I was denied. Whether this was intentional or simply inconsistent enforcement of the promotion, it left me feeling embarrassed, unwelcome, and unfairly treated. To make matters worse, the quesadilla I ordered was not up to the standard I have come to expect. It appeared rushed, was not properly stuffed, and was not even cut correctly before being served. Given the disappointment surrounding the promotion, receiving a meal that seemed carelessly prepared only added to my frustration. If Birkenstock sandals were not eligible, that policy should have been applied consistently to everyone. If they were eligible—as Tropical Smoothie Cafe’s social media indicated—then I should not have been denied the promotion in the first place. I hope management reviews this incident and ensures that promotional policies are communicated and enforced consistently for all customers. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression and was one of the most disappointing visits I have had at Tropical Smoothie Cafe.

Came in at 7:34pm and ordered a pb & banana flat bread online, I arrived and it was done the banana was not cut into slices, it had lint on the banana, I asked for a remake and I received attitude back from the worker with glasses. I told her I wanted it made over and the correct way, she seemed upset. I don’t expect this type of customer service from tropical smoothie at all because it is held to high standards. If you do the job correct the first time, it wouldn’t be any issues. I wouldn’t recommend this place the owner even leaves sarcastic responses this is why the workers act the way they do. It’s approved by management

UPDATE: The owner wants to respond and say the credit card was declined of course it was that’s an expired card! I used my debit card for the purchase because the wrong one was on file in the app. Very unprofessional of you all. Ordered a smoothie through the app and there was a glitch in the system allegedly (sure didn’t glitch with my bank) so they wanted me to DOUBLE pay for one smoothie. It was fully processed on my side. Offered no help and still left with no smoothie. Was told I’d get my money back but we will see.

I just ordered a smoothie bowl here and the smoothie was about 1/4 of the way full and it all tasted old and/or expired. This was not worth $12.65 spent. Even the lobby was dirty.

Ordered a smoothie and salad for immediate pickup and it was waiting for me when I arrived 10 mins later. Staff was friendly and my order was fresh and delicious!
