We arrived at about 10:00. It wasn’t busy. We sat ourselves pretty much after the server told us we could sit anywhere. We ordered our food. It didn’t take long to get our orders. I ordered the chicken and waffles with an egg fried over easy. I wanted my yokes fried hard (I told the server that I didn’t like my eggs runny) but she didn’t know what I was talking about. But she was nice and professional. My companion really liked her order. I did too. However, I wish the chicken was seasoned more. It was nice. It was quiet. I saw a lady with her two Golden Retrievers on the patio and I like that dogs are welcome in the patio. I may go back for lunch or dinner.

Black Walnut Cafe The food was a little pricey, but good and worth it for the quality. My meal was well portioned and beautifully presented, which made it feel like a treat instead of just another brunch stop. The mimosa flight was a mixed bag. Half were great, half missed the mark. When I mentioned it, they quickly replaced the drinks with better ones, which I appreciated. Overall, it was a good experience with solid service and food that delivered.

Came here for last minute brunch with my man and we started off having a good time with the mimosa flight - zero complaints. We ordered two appetizers. The cauliflower was fresh an delicious. We also got the queso and added the crawfish which was the perfect combination- the cheese was a tad cold and the chips some stale but overall not bad. We also had a IPA beer which was really good draft. We had ordered the big plate at around 315 PM - by 4 we asked to cancel because it still hadn’t came out - they were not busy by this time to have taken that long to bring out the plate so was disappointed by this bc I was looking fwd to the late breakfast part but oh well. Maybe we’ll come back but not sure when our order was just us 2 and that happened.

I usually enjoy dining at the Black Walnut in The Woodlands, but unfortunately my experience at this location was disappointing. My food arrived cold, my pancakes and eggs didn’t look fresh. I had to send those items back to be remade. The service also wasn’t that great. Our server introduced herself and brought us silverware, but that’s all she did. I entered my own order, while other employees and the manager brought out our food and removed our empty plates. This isn’t a traditional full-service restaurant. Guests can order at the front counter or simply scan the QR code at the table to place their own order. Food runners bring out the meals, and customers can even pay and close out their own tabs themselves. Because of that, I was surprised to see a suggested 18% to 25% tip at the end. I love tipping when food is fresh & good service is provided, but in this case, the server didn’t take our order, bring our food, remove our empty plates, or handle our payment. I just don’t feel the suggested tip amount reflected the level of service we actually received.
