Four Tex-Mex dining rooms round out our eight picks, and each one does a specific taco well.

Here's the line to remember: in Atascocita, you can order a taco at 6 a.m. on Atascocita Road and 25 more in a pizza box at 10 p.m. on FM 1960.

Where is Atascocita, and what counts?

Atascocita is an unincorporated community in northeast Harris County, between the City of Humble and the western shore of Lake Houston. In this guide it means businesses east of Humble's city limits with a Humble, TX 77346 address, along FM 1960 East, Atascocita Road and West Lake Houston Parkway. It stops at the West Fork of the San Jacinto River, where Kingwood begins.

That Humble address confuses people. Almost every Atascocita business uses a Humble mailing address, so search for "Humble 77346" on maps and delivery apps. Tacos in Humble itself are in our best tacos in Humble guide, and the other side of the river is in best tacos in Kingwood.

How we chose

We looked for places that make their own tortillas, specialize in one style of taco, or have a taco dish you can't easily get elsewhere in northeast Harris County. Each place had to have a 77346 address inside our boundary. Each also had to show it was operating on its own website or official social page when we checked in November 2026.

Atascocita has taco trucks too: several park along Atascocita Road and FM 1960 East. We left them out because we couldn't find official pages confirming where and when they serve. Our taco trucks in Houston guide covers trucks with published schedules. Hours change often, so treat every time below as "typically" and check the official page the day you go.

Taquerias on Atascocita Road

Atascocita Road is the place for an early taco, and the two picks here are about a block apart.

What to order: Barbacoa and carne guisada on homemade flour tortillas, or the street-taco plate of five steak tacos with cilantro, onion and charro beans.

What to order: Al pastor, suadero (beef brisket), lengua and cabeza street tacos topped with cilantro and onion, or the QuesaBirrias.

Insider tip: The Taquiza is a pizza box filled with 25 tacos, the menu's answer to a watch party. With 11 p.m. closing, Tacos Atilano is also the latest taco on this list. See the menu for current options.
