If you love good authentic Nigerian food, with great service, and a peaceful atmosphere, Amala Joint is the place to be. I love several of the items such as the Egusi with Pounded Yam, Jollof Rice, and Suya. The flavors of each of these meals are so pleasing. I also loved the Bitter Leaf Soup even though is has a strong taste.

I was very eager to try Amala joint for my fix of African food. The service was not bad but I came for the food not immaculate customer service but I smile or proper greeting would’ve been nice. The stew was great! Rice was fresh and my Agoyin was good too. The ONLY thing that ruined the $40 meal for me was the beef in my stew was tough as leather. Literally. It was extremely dried out and inedible. I was so disappointed to be served that after spending so much on my food. I hope this review brings some type of change to serving people old dried beef. If that wasn’t my experience I would have given the food a 5 star review. Please honor customers and serve them what you would want to be served.

I’m really disappointed. This place went from a 5⭐ experience to a 0. Consistency is extremely important to me. Especially being in the medical field. I drove an hour and 30 minutes for this meal, because of my previous visit. Unfortunately, this time was completely different. There was a lady sitting outside in a chair who didn’t greet me at all and seemed upset. When I walked in, multiple tables were dirty. I still stayed positive and was very polite to the cashier, even mentioning that I had driven a long distance for this meal. She assured me everything would be fresh, but that was not true. I ordered the Alama dish, and the beef was old and tough. The okra was full of fish bones, completely unacceptable and honestly disgusting. I also asked for pounded yam but was given fufu instead (thankfully I checked before leaving). On top of that, the cashier was unprofessional, on her phone the entire time and I was overcharged, which I chose to overlook at the time. Overall, the service, food quality, and cleanliness have SERIOUSLY DECLINED . They need to improve immediately or consider shutting down. Based on this experience, I can’t trust them anymore. If you’re looking for consistent, quality African food, I recommend Komchop Africa Food, they’ve never let me down. Hashtag#Consistency Matters!!

So my friend was craving some Amala and we were torn between two spots and ended up coming here. Let me first off say that the service was so amazing. Ms. Ade was helpful and took time to explain what was available to order. I personally did not plan on eating Amala because I usually do not like/eat it. My friend ended up ordering the Amala, of course, and I got the goat pepper soup with a side of rice. To my lovelyyyyy surprise I ended up eating the Amala with my friend because IT. WAS. DELICIOUS! While ordering I did mention that I don't like/eat Amala and Ms. Ade confidently stated that if I ate theirs, I would enjoy. I'm so glad she was right. Easily a 9.5 out of 10. Our only critique was that it could've had a bit more meat. But the portion was great. We were even full and had some leftover. I did eat some of my pepper soup and it indeed was pepper-ish. Although it was yummy, it was a bit too much for my liking. I would recommend for those who have a very high spice tolerance. Ended up spending a little over $55 but highly worth it due to taste, portion size and service :) Would absolutely recommend and would revisit to order Amala that I used to not even eat lol.
