If you want a great cocktail, go to Julep. Great, diverse flavors from around the world. First, the valet parking attendant is awesome. Service in the bar is great, but when busy it can get very loud and service can slow down — although the drinks and snacks are surely worth the wait. If you’re looking for a quieter environment, the overflow seating (if available) is much quieter and better for conversation. My notable mentions are the baked brie and Floradora cocktail.

The Julep a 9/10. The atmosphere was one of the highlights of the evening. It’s dark, cozy, and stylish without feeling pretentious. It was the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a couple of cocktails. Just be aware that after about 11 p.m., the crowd got noticeably louder and rowdier, which changed the vibe a bit. We each had two drinks, and what impressed us most was the quality of the cocktails. Even as the ice melted and we got to the last sip, the drinks still tasted balanced and flavorful instead of watered down. That’s a sign of a well-crafted cocktail. The liquor quality also seemed excellent—I woke up the next day without the usual headache that sometimes comes from lower-quality spirits. We also tried the popcorn. While I loved the concept, the execution didn’t quite work for me. It tasted a bit like very expensive microwave popcorn. Not bad, just not something I’d order again. Overall, The Julep delivered exactly what we were looking for: great cocktails, a beautiful atmosphere, and a fun night out. We’d definitely return.

For parking, valet is available but my friends and I did street parking on White St where there was plenty of space available. My friends and I had a reservation for Friday night and we were originally expecting to be seated in the main area but since Juelp was having a soft launch of their speakeasy bar, we were seated there instead. The interior is intimate and moderately lit unlike some speakeasies where the lighting can be very dim. The menu is quite extensive with a variety of different drinks available. For the speakeasy, there was a list of new drinks available at a discounted rate of $10 due to the soft launch. That being said, I ended up ordering the Golden Halo since that was the recommended drink for people who enjoy very sweet drinks such as myself- and it did not disappoint! My other friends ordered the Sakura Current and the Silk & Oak which they all enjoyed. As for food, my friends and I ordered truffle fries, baked brie, confit flatbread, and oysters. Personally, I thought the fries were a little too skinny/small but the truffle seasoning was good! The baked brie and confit flat bread were delicious and the oysters were refreshing. Overall, this was such a cute spot and I’m glad to have been able to try it out. On top of the good drinks and bites, our server was very knowledgeable and welcoming. Looking forward to coming back!

Julep has revamped itself and has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The drinks are great, the atmosphere is even better, and I love that they brought back some of the old classics on their expanded menu. I have not been able to find a good bramble in Houston in a long time, so that alone was a huge win. The only downside is that when it gets busy, seating can be hard to find since it is a fairly small space, and service can slow down a bit. That said, it feels more like a staffing issue than anything else. The bartenders and servers are always lovely, and the drinks are absolutely worth the wait. Highly recommend getting the cheddar popcorn with your drinks. Also - the drink photos are from different occasions, I promise 😂

Great service! Nice upscale bar with food options. GET the kettle popcorn! It was so good and the portion is great too. It was my first time there and the server was able to recommend a good drink for me based on what I wanted. Seating for large groups available as well as bar seating and small groups.
