Houston Dine-In Movie Theaters: 8 Picks With Recliners and Bars

Date Published

Houston dine-in movie theater: cinema screen, recliner seats and popcorn against the night skyline

Houston has eight verified dine-in movie theaters operating right now, ranging from an in-seat massage pod at Star Cinema Grill to craft beer brewed on-site at Flix Brewhouse. You can eat a full dinner without leaving your recliner at seven of the eight — the eighth, AMC Houston 8 downtown, lets you carry cocktails from the lobby bar to your seat. Every pick below was confirmed open on its official site or a live showtimes feed in October 2026.

One thing worth knowing: the dine-in theater format was invented in Texas, and Houston's own Star Cinema Grill — founded here, still headquartered here — runs three of the eight locations on this list. This is not a city that got a national chain. It's a city that built the model.

The quick list

  • Best luxury pods: iPic Theaters at River Oaks District and Cinépolis at The Woodlands
  • Best local chain, three locations: Star Cinema Grill (CityCentre, Vintage Park, Baybrook)
  • Best for beer drinkers: Flix Brewhouse in Katy, which brews its own beer on-site
  • Best for a downtown night: AMC Houston 8 inside the historic Bayou Place complex
  • Only one with in-seat massage: Star Cinema Grill CityCentre (Premium Privacy Pods)
  • Closest to The Woodlands: Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas at Creekside Park

How we chose

We included only theaters with confirmed current showtimes on an official or live ticketing source as of October 2026, and at least a bar or a food-to-seat service option. We left out theaters that closed: Alamo Drafthouse's last Houston-area location shut down February 2026; AMC Studio 30 at Dunvale is permanently closed. Each entry links to its verified source.

River Oaks and the Galleria

iPic Theaters — River Oaks District

4444 Westheimer Rd, Suite C200 · (832) 709-2146 · open daily · cashless

iPic has two seat tiers: Premium (fully reclining leather chairs) and Premium Plus (two-seat pods with blankets, pillows, and a personal call button). Premium Plus is the move — “ninja servers” deliver food silently while the film plays. You're 40 minutes into an action scene and someone quietly sets down truffle fries without saying a word.

What to order: The Tuck Room, iPic's upstairs Prohibition-themed bar, opens before and after every screening. In-seat, the filet sliders (~$20) and an artisanal cheeseboard (~$18) are the picks. Complimentary popcorn comes with every Premium Plus seat.

Ticket prices: Premium seats typically run $16–$22; Premium Plus pods run $25–$32. Members save significantly on weeknights. Valet parking is available at the neighboring Plaza Los Robles structure.

Best for: date nights in Houston, anniversaries, or any situation where you want a full dining experience and a film without two separate reservations.

Memorial / Town and Country

Star Cinema Grill — CityCentre

822 Town and Country Blvd, Houston · open daily

Star Cinema Grill is a Houston-born chain — founded here, still headquartered here — and CityCentre is its flagship. The theater was rebuilt from the ground up in 2024 after it took over the former Studio Movie Grill space. The renovation cut seats from 1,500 to 889 and added the city's first in-seat massage pods: the Premium Privacy Pods are two-seat heated recliners with a built-in massager and blankets, sold in pairs.

What to order: $5 draft pints on Mondays and $6 house margaritas on Tuesdays. The food menu runs an extensive American lineup — pizza, chicken tenders, churro sundaes — that holds up during a two-hour film. Expect an automatic 18% gratuity.

Ticket prices: ~$15 adult general admission; $8 all-day on Tuesdays; $21.50 per seat for Premium Privacy Pods. 3D screenings add $3.50.

Specialty screenings: Screen Queens classic film series at $8 per ticket, Fright Night themed screenings, private theater rentals.

Best for: a splurge night on the west side, or an occasion where you want something more than a standard theater without booking a separate restaurant.

Northwest Houston

Star Cinema Grill — Vintage Park

114 Vintage Park Blvd, Suite J, Houston · (713) 383-7827 · open daily

The same heated-recliner, full in-seat dining model as CityCentre, in Northwest Houston near the 290 corridor. Same Monday pint specials and Tuesday $6 discount day. Convenient if you're coming from Cypress, Spring Branch, or anywhere along Beltway 8 north. Private theater rentals available.

South Houston / Pearland area

Studio Movie Grill — Pearland

8440 S Sam Houston Pkwy E, Houston · open daily · 12 auditoriums

Studio Movie Grill invented the in-seat dining theater format in Texas — the first location opened in Addison in 1993 with luxury boxes and valet parking. That company filed for Chapter 11 in October 2020 during the pandemic, emerged in April 2021, and still operates 18 locations nationally. The Pearland location (opened 2016) is now the only remaining Houston-area outpost. All 12 auditoriums have lounge chairs and a Service Button at every seat; a Lobby Bar pours 60-plus premium spirits.

What to order: The Blackberry Ranch Water ($10), the Dinner for 2 Deal ($32 for shared starters and two entrees), or a milkshake. The kitchen runs a full American grill menu with heart-healthy options.

Ticket prices: Not published publicly; local reports place adult general admission in the $13–$16 range. A Tuesday discount program is available.

Best for: families and groups in South Houston — see our Pearland area guide for what else is nearby.

Clear Lake / Friendswood

Star Cinema Grill — Baybrook

702 Baybrook Mall, Friendswood · (281) 557-9300 · open daily

The south-side Star Cinema Grill is inside Baybrook Mall — one of the last dine-in theaters anchored in a traditional Houston-area regional mall. Heated recliners, PLF Onyx projection, full in-seat dining — same experience as the other Star Cinema Grill locations. A solid stop before or after a mall day, or as a Clear Lake area evening out.

Katy

Flix Brewhouse — Katy

2707 Commercial Center Blvd, Suite K-100, Katy · (346) 615-2800 · open daily

Flix Brewhouse opened February 2026 at LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch, in the same space that was Alamo Drafthouse for years. What sets it apart from every other theater in Houston: it brews its own beer on-site. All eight screens have new laser projectors and Easy Glider 2 luxury dining recliners. Once the film starts, you write your order on a paper slip (or scan a QR code) and food arrives at your seat.

What to order: The Truffle Shuffle pizza or the Bacon Brewhouse Burger, paired with a house Nebulas Hazy IPA or the Lucha Libre Mexican Lager. The sourdough pizza dough uses a starter that originated at Flix's founding Round Rock location in 2011 and has been kept alive and transported to every new location since — try it on a Flix Picks classic-film night for the full experience.

Ticket prices: $5.55 on Wednesdays. Pricing otherwise not posted publicly; total food-and-drink budget typically runs $28–$40 per person including entree, drinks, tax, and the automatic 18% gratuity. Online booking adds a $4 fee per order.

Specialty screenings: Flix Picks (classic favorites), FanFest (themed events with contests), FirstFest (opening-night screenings with film-inspired menus), Flix Junior (family-oriented shows with adjusted sound and lighting). R-rated films require ID for guests under 17.

Best for: Katy and west Houston residents who want serious craft beer with their movie. No other theater in Houston brews on-site.

The Woodlands

Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas — Creekside Park

26543 Kuykendahl Rd, Tomball · (346) 246-7177 · open daily

Cinépolis is one of the world's largest movie theater chains by screen count, headquartered in Morelia, Mexico — and this is its only Houston-area location. The 42,000-square-foot theater holds 833 seats across all screens in fully reclining leather chairs. Every seat has a call button for service from a scratch kitchen.

What to order: Weekend brunch screenings include $6 Bloody Marys and mimosas until 3 PM Saturday and Sunday. The house tacos and flatbread pizzas are the kitchen standouts. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday until 6 PM.

Ticket prices: Not publicly posted; comparable Cinépolis luxury locations typically run $18–$22 for adults. Half-price on Tuesdays.

Best for: Woodlands residents and anyone making a day trip north who wants a film alongside a proper sit-down meal.

Downtown Houston

AMC Dine-In Houston 8

510 Texas St, Houston · (713) 223-3456 · open daily

The only downtown option on this list, AMC Houston 8 sits inside Bayou Place — the entertainment complex built inside the renovated shell of the 1910 Houston Auditorium. The building's bones are over a century old; you're watching a film inside a civic landmark.

How the dining works here: This location uses a different model from the others. You order from MacGuffins Bar in the lobby, then bring drinks and bar food — flatbreads, salads, skewers — into the auditorium yourself. Servers do not come to your seat during the film. It's the most casual option on this list.

Ticket prices: ~$13–$16 adult; AMC Stubs members pay $5 on Tuesdays. Online booking adds fees. Free validated parking in the nearby garage.

Best for: a downtown Houston evening — pair it with dinner at a restaurant from our downtown dining guide.

Save this: before you go

  • Book recliners in advance. Premium pods at iPic and Star Cinema Grill CityCentre sell out on weekends.
  • Go on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Six of these eight theaters have a discounted weekday price.
  • Budget for food and gratuity. In-seat dining adds $25–$45 per person with drinks and an automatic 18% gratuity on top of the ticket price at most locations.
  • Bring ID for R-rated films. Flix Brewhouse requires ID for guests under 17; iPic and AMC enforce similar policies.
  • AMC Houston 8 is lobby-service only. If you want food delivered to your seat during the film, all other theaters on this list will do it; AMC Houston 8 will not.
  • Check showtimes the day you go. New films rotate weekly and schedules change seasonally.
