Fifth Ward

The Fifth Ward is a historic neighborhood about two miles northeast of downtown Houston, north of Buffalo Bayou. Settled by freedmen after the Civil War and named a city ward in 1866, it is known for Lyons Avenue, the restored DeLuxe Theater, the Peacock Records story and the Creole enclave of Frenchtown.
